Earlstaðr is our family farm outside of Seneca, Missouri, a place where the traditions of Norse and Germanic paganism have taken root and live again. Within a dedicated sacred grove stands our temple complex, a place where the divine, the ancestral, and the land’s own spirits are each given their due. At the grove’s heart stands the hof with its fenced vé and hörgr, set apart for the worship of the Æsir and Vanir, givers of order, bounty, and peace. Close by lies the “stone ship,” modeled after those found in the burial grounds of our forebears, with a hörgr at its center serving as a place of deep remembrance and honor for the ancestors who walked before us. A separate hörgr and hallowed space are devoted to the land vættir, preserving the bond between our folk and the spirits who dwell here, that it may remain strong through all seasons. Between these sacred places rests the great fire pit, where offerings are given to the flames and the holy tides are marked beneath the open sky. Beyond the trees stretches the wide field we call Fólkvangr, where in time a great hall will rise to host the feasts, sumbles, and gatherings of our people, that the songs of kin and community may ring across the land as they did in the days of old.
